48 Hours in Dubai: A Neighborhood Itinerary

Pick your Dubai — Downtown, the old creek, Jumeirah’s beaches, the Palm or the Marina — and settle in.

Dubai stretches along the Gulf coast. Old Dubai sits on the creek, with Al Fahidi and the souks of Deira linked by abras; Sheikh Zayed Road runs south past DIFC to Downtown and the Burj Khalifa; the beach districts of Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim lead to the Palm and Dubai Marina. The Metro runs the length of the city; taxis fill the gaps. Summers are very hot, so plan outdoor time for mornings and evenings, dress modestly at mosques and souks, and confirm hours before you go.
