Roam48 creates free two-day guides to one walkable neighborhood in the 48 best cities in the world. Each city guide has a 48-hour plan, and each neighborhood page shows you how to spend two days there on foot: where to get coffee, where to eat, what to see, and a hotel close enough to walk back to after dinner.

Start with a city, pick the neighborhood that sounds like you, and go.

How we pick the spots

Every place in a guide is a named spot with a street address. Each one links to its own website, Yelp page or Google Maps, so you can see exactly where it is before you go.

We look for the places people in the neighborhood keep going back to: the old espresso bar, the family bakery, the dish a kitchen is known for. Small local chains and the originals of bigger names are welcome. Big national chains mostly aren't.

The hotels we name sit inside the neighborhood, so the plan works on foot. When a place's hours change with the day or the season, the guide says so.

Readers send us spots, too, through the “Know a spot” box on every neighborhood page. We read every tip, and a spot goes into a guide only after we look into it ourselves.

Photos

Most of our photos come from Wikimedia Commons and other free photo libraries, used under their licenses. Each photo is credited on the page with the photographer and the license.

How booking links work

Roam48 is free to read. Some of our hotel links go through the Expedia Group Creator program, our rental links go to Vrbo, part of Expedia Group, and some tour and ticket links go through Viator.

If you book through some of these links, we may earn a small commission. It doesn't cost you anything extra. The booking and payment happen on Expedia, Vrbo or Viator, and we never see your payment details. Our privacy page has the details.

Corrections

Places close, move and change their hours. We go back over the live guides every week for closures and broken links. If you spot something wrong, write to hello@roam48.com with the page and what changed, and we'll fix the guide.
